Obituary of Elaine Gilmour
Elaine Gilmour (nee Farmer), 80, of Palm City, passed away August 27, 2007 at Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart. She was born March 3, 1927 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Elaine graduated in Winnipeg and then joined the Canadian Womens Army in 1945. Following her service to her country, she was then employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs in Winnipeg. Previous to becoming a resident of Palm City in 1989, she lived in Hamilton, London, Ottawa, Burlington Ontario and Pittsburgh. In Burlington, Elaine was a skilled Curler.
Elaine was a former member of the United Church of Canada in Ontario. She was an active volunteer with Martin Memorial Hospital, the Humane Society and a member of Martin Downs Tennis and Golf Club, and an avid bridge player.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Robert A. Gilmour of Palm City; son, Scott Gilmour of Amherst, NY; daughters, Shelley M. Stephan of St. Albert, Alberta, Canada and Liane Gilmour-Grant of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; sister, Margaret D. Farmer of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 10:00AM, Thursday at Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City. A reception will follow immediately in the funeral home lobby.
