Obituary of Elaine Lewandowski
On April 14, 2014, Elaine "Nina" Lewandowski was received into God's loving embrace. Born December 18,1934 in Hamtramack, Michigan she married Henry "Hank" Lewandowski in 1955. Hank and Elaine raised their children in Redford, Michigan, where she was a homemaker. She later worked for Sears, Crowley's Department Store, and Flint Ink Corporation. They retired to Palm City, Florida in 1992.
Hank and Elaine were avid travelers and had the good fortune to visit exotic locales such as Tahiti, and made good friends on their many Caribbean cruises.
Elaine was a devoted member of Palm City Presbyterian, where she sang in the choir and enjoyed participating in the sewing club. She was happiest using her dressmaking skills to create clothing for less fortunate children.
Elaine was always on the go, whether it was water aerobics, walking, or playing mah-jong with her girlfriends. She loved to read and was dedicated to healthy living.
She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends who were privileged to know such a gentle, kind, and courageous woman. She fought a long battle against cancer, but this did not define her.
She was predeceased by her father Anthony Rybinski, Jr., mother Mary Kulikowski and stepfather Walter Kulikowski. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years Henry; children Paulette (Don) of Traverse City, MI; Lenore (Michael) of Northville, MI; Michelle of Canton, MI; and Gary (Chris) of Manhasset, NY. She is also survived by her sister Joyce (Cookie) Tofil of Fruitport, MI and grandchildren Melissa, Jacquelyn, Andrew, Jeffrey, Meredith, Eva, and Carina.
Memorial service is to be held on Saturday, May 3, 11:00 AM at the Palm City Presbyterian Church, 2700 SW Martin Hwy, Palm City.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997, or at 772/403-4530 or on line at www.tchospices.org.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City.
