Elba Mercedes Reyes Velez fell asleep in death on July 12th, 2021 in her home with her children by her side. Elba was born into a large loving family on April 9th, 1935 in the small town of Florida, Puerto Rico.
Elba moved to New York at an early age where she later met and married her beloved husband, Ramon Velez. Eventually they moved to Waterbury, Connecticut to continue raising their family. Elba worked as a seamstress in the garment industry for over 30 years before retiring and moving to Florida.
She took an interest in spiritual matters, early in life, wondering about the purpose of life. Her curiosity and questions were answered when she began studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses in the 1950's. After, finally learning what the Bible teaches, Mom became a Bible teacher herself conducting countless bible studies and enjoying that privilege up until her later years in life.
Elba enjoyed traveling, cooking, visiting and helping her family and friends in any way she could. She was a kind, loving and exceptional woman with fine qualities that were refined by her bible knowledge.
She will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew her. A private graveside service for the family will be held on July 31st, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Forrest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City Florida.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all those who supported mom and us during this difficult time.
The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, charitable donations be made at
