Obituary of Eleanore Miller

Eleanore M. Miller died on August 2, 2012 at Water's Edge Extended Care, SandHill Cove, Palm City, Fl. where she had lived since 1993. She was 99 years old; born on May 22, 1913 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Ella and Vendel Pary. A Registered Nurse graduate of St. John's Nursing School in Cleveland, she was an RN at the Cleveland Clinic and at many other hospitals around the country during World War II.

During the late 1930s she was a RN Airline Stewardess with American Airlines flying on DC2s and DC3s. She married August C. Miller, Jr., a college professor, in 1941. Very active in the community wherever she lived, she was involved as a Board Member of the Child and Family Services of Newport, R.I. , the Red Cross and U.S. Navy Relief Society. She lived with her husband and son in Newport, R.I. from 1958-1992. During this time she was friend and advisor to the wives and families of International Naval Officers from at least 80 countries at the Naval War College, Newport, R.I. A woman of gentle spirit, she expressed the best of human feelings by sharing her love, kindness and thoughtfulness with people of all ages.

At Sandhill Cove, she was very active on the Health Care and Landscape Committees. She donated many hours of her time and talent by visiting resident patients and caring for all the lovely plants and flowers at the Water's Edge Extended Care Facility at Sandhill Cove. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Palm City, Fl.

Survivors include a son, August C. Miller, III of Palm City, Fl., and a sister, Rita Cashman of Rocky River, Ohio, as well as many nieces and nephews.

. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years August C. Miller Jr. in 1991 and a sister Dorothy Chorba.

SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on August 6. 2012 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown, Rhode Island.
