Obituary of Elisabeth McCabe
Elisabeth "Bet" McCabe of Palm City, FL died January 20, 2013 at age 95.
She graduated from Kimberley School in Montclair, NJ, earned a Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University with Post Graduate work at the Crafts Student League in New York City. She was a Goldsmith and Silversmith in New York for such clients as George Jenson and Hattie Carnegie.
She is predeceased by her husband of sixty-four years, James E. McCabe who died in 2007. During their long marriage they had many homes, for many years in Short Hills, NJ, then Saratoga Springs, NY, finally in Palm City, FL. Beginning at age ten, summers were spent on Martha's Vineyard.
In Saratoga Springs she served on the board of the Home of the Good Shepherd and in various capacities for the Saratoga Historical Society. She had a lifelong interest in art, was an accomplished Painter as well as a prolific Writer of whimsical poetry and letters.
She was a member of the Saratoga Golf and Polo Club, the Evergreen Golf Club and the Women's Club of Palm City, and the Church of the Advent, also in Palm City.
She leaves a daughter Jean and her husband Dean Farina of St. Augustine, FL and Oak Bluffs, MA; a son Douglas of Saratoga Springs, NY and a son, Bruce and wife Jannifer of Bountiful, Utah. Survivors also include six grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral Service: 11:00AM, Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Church of the Advent in Palm City.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Church of the Advent in Palm City would be welcomed for its Outreach Program.
