Obituary of Elizabeth Palmer
Elizabeth Graham Palmer, 95, of Palm City, FL died June 30, 2013 at the Sandhill Cove retirement community where she was one of the original residents. She was born in Philadelphia, PA and moved first to Palm Beach County and then Martin County, FL from Norristown, PA.
Elizabeth was a graduate of Germantown High School and Ogontz Junior College in the Philadelphia area and Greensboro College, NC. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Norristown, PA and the Mariner Sands Chapel in Stuart, FL. She was involved in numerous community organizations, most notably, the Sacred Heart and Montgomery Hospitals in Norristown, PA.
Elizabeth was one of the owners of Kimberton Golf Club in Kimberton, PA where she was the first woman to have a hole-in-one. She will be most remembered as a caring friend and a gracious hostess.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Nolan Palmer, PhD of Chapel Hill, NC and a grandson, William John Graham Palmer, Jr. of CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Edward Palmer III, MD and her son, William John Graham Palmer.
A graveside service will be held in the West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA. A celebration of life reception will be held in September at Kimberton Golf Club in Kimberton, PA.
The family requests that memorial contributions to support cancer research be made to the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, CB #7295, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-7295, in Elizabeth's memory.
