Obituary of Ellen Constantine

CONSTANTINE, Ellen Mary (Betz), 82, of Palm City joined her heavenly Father in eternal life on Monday, February 4, 2008 from her home with her daughters at her side. She was born July 22, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of Mary Ellen (Bouchard) Betz and John George Betz and dearly loved granddaughter of Frederick and Sarah Bouchard, founder of Bouchard Transportation Company, Inc. in Melville, New York.



While growing up in Garden City, NY Ellen enjoyed summers on Lake Mahopac in NY and winters in Hollywood, FL. She was a 1947graduate of the St. Marys Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, New York. She went on to marry Air Force Officer William H. Constantine, Jr. in 1949. After a brief residence in Tennessee, the couple settled in Flourtown, PA. The family relocated to Juno Isles, FL in 1973. After the death of her beloved husband of 33 years Ellen relocated to Palm City, FL in 1989.

During her career as a Registered Nurse, spanning from pediatrics to geriatrics, Ellen provided outstanding treatment and compassion to all entrusted to her care. She retired from St. Marys Hospital Utilization and Review Department in West Palm Beach, FL in the early 90s.

Ellen was an active member of the Christ Child Society, both Palm Beach and Stuart Chapters, and for many years coordinated layettes for expectant mothers. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Palm City, FL. She enjoyed spending special times with family and friends and especially delighted in her grandchildren. She also found great comfort with her fox terrier companion, Kiki.

Ellen, much-loved mother, caring grandmother and devoted friend, you will be greatly missed and the memories created with you will be long lived in our hearts. Your words, wisdom and actions will be forever embedded in our minds. Rest in peace with others you have loved dearly who have gone before you.

She was preceded in death by husband, William H. Constantine, Jr., mother, Mary Betz, brother, J. George Betz, Jr., and beloved aunt, Rhea Bouchard.

Survivors include, son, William H. Constantine, III and wife, Michele of Palm Harbor, Florida; daughter, Rhea E. Slinger and husband Jeff of Palm City, FL; and daughter, Candy G. Jones of Palm City, FL; six special grandchildren, Will, Elizabeth, John, Blair, Bryan and Kendal.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ellens name to the Christ Child Society of Palm Beach or Stuart or the American Heart Association.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Palm City, FL. A brief reception will follow Mass at Forest Hill Funeral Home from 11-12 pm followed by entombment at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, West Palm Beach, FL. Visitation on Thursday 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm with Parish scripture service at 7:00 pm. Arrangements are entrusted to Forest Hills Funeral Home, 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, FL.
