Obituary for Elmer Jacobs

Elmer Lee Jacobs, 89, of Palm City, FL, passed away May 30, 2024.

He was born in Carlinville, IL,  June 14, 1934.  He met and married the love of his life, Arlene, in Gibson City, IL.  Elmer volunteered and served in the Army during the Korean War, and then attended the University of IL,  where he earned a degree in Agricultural Economics.  He had a long successful Career with Continental Grain Co.

He is survived by his sister Beverly, and sons Paul and Sam, and daughters, Lori and Gwen, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his children Mark, David, and Nanette, and by his wife of 63 years, Arlene.
Elmer had a love of life and was very active, enjoying hiking, camping, backpacking, skiing, playing bridge and woodworking.  He especially enjoyed being in Colorado, where after moving to Florida, he continued to spend every summer.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 24 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Palm City at 11:30 am, with a Celebration of Life Gathering to follow at Sandhill Cove Retirement Community.
