Florence
Higgins
Apr 29, 1922 — Apr 21, 2019
Port St. Lucie
Florence Higgins, loving wife of William Higgins and mother to Janet Visconti-Clifton and Adolph Visconti, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday April 21, 2019 at The Hospice of the Treasure Coast in Fort Pierce, Florida. She was 96 years old and just one week shy of her 97th birthday. Born Faustina Mariana Perrucci, on April 29, 1922, in Jamaica New York, she was the 10th of 11 children born to Robert and Camille Perrucci. Florence was the sole surviving sibling.
After World War II, Florence moved to Manhattan, New York, married and had two children. Eventually she divorced and worked full time to raise her children. Years later she met Bill Higgins while they were both working for ABC records. Soon thereafter, they married and after a brief time in New York, they moved to Bergenfield New Jersey.
After retirement they spent many happy years enjoying family at many a pool party and holiday feast while living in Bergenfield. Florence, like her mother and sisters before her was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain. But, most of all she was fun! Everybody wanted to be around her because she loved life and had fun.
However, as they got older they grew tired of New Jersey winters and moved to Vista Pines condominiums in Port St. Lucie, Florida where they spent happy years until age and infirmities caused them to move into Residential Assisted Living in Jensen Beach, Florida. They had a few happy years there until Florence's deteriorating health put her in hospital. Her condition necessitated a release to Hospice care where she died a couple of days later.
Florence is survived by her husband Bill, daughter Janet; son Adolph and his wife Margaret; granddaughter Camille and her husband Andrew; great-grandson Dexter; great-granddaughters Pantera, Scarlett and Violet; grandson Michael and his wife Karen and two very special people, her nephew Bill and his wife Nancy, who cared for Florence and Bill as if they were their own parents, along with many other loving nieces and nephews and a few very close friends.
Florence had an independent and fun loving spirit. She was the type of person you could always count on in any situation. Her friendship and love were unconditional and everlasting. She will be sorely missed by family and all who knew her.
