Obituary

Born in Waltham Massachusetts, December 10, 1939, he was the son of Edward and Mary Ann (Bowe) Williamson (deceased).  The brother of Edward, Joan, Alan and Paul (deceased).

Fred is survived by his longtime companion Claire Devine, his children; Frederick J. Williamson, Jr. his wife Brenda, Wayne Williamson, Deborah (Williamson) Standke her husband Rudi, Scott James, John Humphrey his wife Dorothy, Paul Humphrey his wife Lori, Cheryl Borko her husband Jonathan, Darlene Devine her partner Daniel Kindred and Fred's beloved stepson Kevin Lavelle.

Fred died peacefully at home May 9, 2021 surrounded by the love of his family.

He owned and operated the Fred J. Williamson Exterminating Company of Waltham, which he successfully ran for over 40 years.  After retiring, he began a second career (his true calling) as a mall Santa.  He proudly sat in that seat for over 20 years at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree.  He truly lived and breathed his role.  The time spent as Santa brought joy to countless children and families.  He soaked that joy in, the adoration he took seriously, he wore that beard proudly.  Joy exuded him, it beamed through his twinkling eyes, rosy cheeks and the laughter filled his jolly belly.

His purpose was to make people smile.  He spent his lifetime assembling friends and creating opportunities for people to gather together.  He filled campgrounds, condos, and courtyards; he would draw laughter wherever he went.  Throughout his life, Fred had an affinity for the ocean.  He loved spending time at the beach, under the bridge, listening to the waves crashing.  He's even been known to roll out a sleeping bag straight in the sand.  He loved road trips in his camper, car, van or caravan even.  He would campout anywhere; the beach, the woods, the back yard, your porch, anywhere his tent would fit.

He loved life and he lived it.  He always shared what he had and lived with a heart wide open.  He was a hardworking man and was proud of the business he ran and the Santa boots that he filled.  His proudest title though was Papa.  He loved his grandchildren immensely; Zachary, Brooke, Raymond, William, Kaitlyn, Kevin, Caylee and Jonathan.

Fred's wish was to be buried at sea and the family will do this privately.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
