Dr. George Finley Edmonston Jr. MD, 96, of Palm City, FL passed away on January 12, 2017.
Born February 29, 1920 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, he had been a resident of Palm City for over 14 years.
He was predeceased by his wife Claire R. Van Sciver Edmonston and his brother, Robert J Edmonston of Steubenville, Ohio and survived by her children, Craig E. Steinke, Freeport PA, Heidi B. Weiss, Freeport PA, and Daina Kaczynski, Pittsburgh PA, and several grandchildren.
During World War II he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army in Japan.
He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School in 1943.
Prior to retiring to Florida, He practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology at St Francis Hospital and Alleghany Valley Hospital in Pennsylvania.
He was a life long member of the Flying Physicians Association, a member of the Civil Air Patrol, and an Aviation Medical Examiner.
Memorial contributions may be made to University of Pittsburgh Medical School.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City.
