IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George Gary
Heiney Ii
March 9, 1945 – February 16, 2023
George G. Heiney II, 77, of Palm City, Florida, died Thursday, February 16, 2023. George was born March 9, 1945, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to the late Willard W. and Leona E. Heiney. He is survived by his wife Betty A. Heiney, their sons Andrew (Stephanie) and Brett (Erica) Heiney, daughter Claire (Sam) Moldovan, and their grandchildren Zoe, Cameron, and Kacey Moldovan, and Olivia Heiney.
After graduating high school from West Nottingham Academy in Colora, Maryland, George received both a bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh. Following law school, he and Betty returned to his hometown of Oxford, Pennsylvania, where they raised their family and where he worked as an attorney for 41 years.
Having lived a life of many accomplishments, George was most proud of his family. George and Betty celebrated 54 years of marriage in December 2022. Dubbed "Pa" by his eldest grandchild, Zoe, he loved nothing more than spending time at the beach or swimming in his pool with his children and grandchildren.
George was passionate about supporting his high school, West Nottingham, and joined the board of trustees in 1983. Initially elected in 1985, he served as president of the board for 24 years. In 2016, West Nottingham paid tribute to George for his decades of distinguished service by naming a dormitory in his honor.
Following his retirement in 2012, George and Betty moved to Palm City, Florida, where they were embraced by an active community of new friends. New friend or old, George treasured all of his friends and the time he spent with them.
An avid fisherman and boater, George and his closest friends founded the Hatteras Chowder and Marching Society, a private fraternal organization dedicated to brotherhood and surf fishing, martinis optional. He always looked forward to the group's annual fishing trip.
