Obituary of George West
George Raymond West, 86, of Palm City, died April 4, 2007 at the Treasure Coast Hospice Residence, Stuart.
Born in Cambridge, MA, he had been a resident of Palm City for many years coming from Barrington, RI.
During WWII he had been a pilot in the US Army Air Corp.
He received his BS in economics from Harvard University in1942 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1947.
Before retiring he had been a chairman of the board of Factory Mutual Global, formerly Allendale Mutual Insurance Company and had held numerous executive positions and directorships. Those included, Arkwright-Boston Manufacturers Mutual Company, FM Insurance Company, London England, The Eastern Company, Westwood MA, the Bank of Boston, Boston, MA, Mohawk Data Sciences, Parsippany, NJ, American Institute for Property & Liability Underwriters/Insurance and the Institute of America, Malvern, PA
He was of the Catholic faith and attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Palm City.
He was member of the Pipers Landing Country Club, Palm City, the Rhode Island Country Club, Barrington, RI, the Weston Golf Club, Weston, MA, the Hope Club, Providence, RI, the University Club, Providence, RI and the Harvard Club of Boston, Boston, MA.
