Captain Georges E. Chalonec died Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the great age of 98.

His life was one of determination, struggles and successes. His major accomplishments were his rise from a mere deck boy to the rank of Captain of major shipping vessels, travelling world-wide and traversing major bodies of water, to serving in several wars as a Merchant Marine, to fathering 3 children, to serving as a second father to his nieces and nephews, to being a grandfather and great grandfather, to writing and publishing a book about his life, to owning several businesses, to being loved by his family and friends.  He loved to learn, read, cook, and host family and friends, fish and sit by the water and contemplate life.

A very proud and independent man who loved his family, the Captain will be missed and always remembered.
