IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Georgianna J.
Souza
November 16, 1931 – August 25, 2024
Georgianna J. Souza (Rego), known to many as Georgie, was called to her eternal rest on August 25, 2024, in Stuart, Florida. She was 92 years old, born on November 16, 1931, in Middletown, Rhode Island. Georgie's final years were a testament to a life lived in faith and devotion, as she was surrounded by the bountiful love of her family, a true reflection of God's grace.
Georgie embodied the spirit of humility and grace, a faithful servant, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her unwavering love and tender care echoed the love of Christ, touching the hearts of all who knew her. She was a beacon of light, her compassion, and gentleness a constant reminder of the respect we owe to all of God's creation.
Her life's journey was rich with the blessings of shared experiences, from her early days on the family farm in Little Compton, RI amidst the nurturing embrace of her loving parents and 9 siblings, to the cherished 51 years of marriage with her beloved Gerald E. Souza (Jerry). Together Georgie and Jerry shared a strong Portuguese heritage and enjoyed traveling the world. They found solace in their retirement years in the warm climate of South Florida. Though she found success in various professional pursuits, her vocation as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker remained her most cherished role. Georgie enjoyed many hobbies, particularly reading, sewing, cooking, and traveling.
Georgie's legacy lives on through her children: Dianne K. Souza of Stuart, FL; Gerald W. Souza (Denise) of Raleigh, NC; and Patricia A. Sherrard (John) of Palm City, FL. Her treasured grandchildren also survive her: Wil Martinez (Cathy), Rachel Souza (Cory), Craig Souza, Justin Sherrard, Trevor Sherrard (Kayla), Christian Sherrard, and Stephen Sherrard; and her adored great-grandchildren: Tonicha, Marcus, Alanna, Piper, Asher, John, Samuel, and Hannah. Her life continues to bear fruit through her brother, Robert Rego (Jane) of Tiverton, RI; and her sister, Natalie Darling of Little Compton, RI. Georgie joins her dear husband, Gerald E. Souza, in the Kingdom of Heaven.
A memorial service to honor Georgie's life will be held on September 16, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Forest Hills Memorial Park & Palm City Chapel, 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, FL 34990. This gathering will be an opportunity to offer testimonies of thanksgiving for the blessing that was her presence among us and will be followed by brunch at the home of Patricia and John Sherrard.
In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, to ensure that Georgie's spirit of generosity and her commitment to the welfare of others continue to resonate in this world.
