Obituary of Gladys Wideman
Gladys Peterson Wideman, 92, of Port St. Lucie, FL passed away August 26, 2014 at her home. She was born in Providence, RI and she has been a resident of Port St. Lucie for 17 years, coming from Warwick, RI.
She graduated from Classical High School and Johnson & Wales University in Providence. She also attended Rutgers University and Burlington College with a Summa Cum Laude degree in science. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, a fraternity.
She had been a homemaker. Before retiring she was an insurance underwriter and a paralegal.
She was of the Catholic Faith. She was a member of the Hansa German Club the Sverborg Swedish Club in Delran, NJ and was a past member of the German-American Club in Port St. Lucie.
Survivors include her son, Ronald N. Wideman; her daughter, Sharen Von Fischer both of Port St. Lucie; granddaughters Jennifer Ruff of Port St. Lucie and Kimberly New of Stuart, FL; five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2009, Walter E. Wideman; her brother, Richard Peterson; her sisters, Dorothy Flock and Gloria Sullivan and a grandson, Harry Mark Collinsworth.
Services will be private with interment in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City, beside her husband.
