Obituary

Glenn Edward Liebl of Orlando, Florida, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 10, 1958, in Queens, New York, Glenn grew up in Dix Hills, Long Island. As an adult, he moved to Vero Beach, Florida, where he started his family and began his career in corrections. He dedicated many years to the Indian River Correctional Facility, receiving numerous promotions, and ultimately retired as a captain at the Central Florida Reception Center.

Glenn had a passion for music, concerts, traveling, fine dining, ice hockey, and the New York Rangers. He often reminisced about attending the original Woodstock in 1969, and throughout his life, he attended many legendary concerts featuring artists such as Pink Floyd, Genesis, Tom Petty, Journey, ZZ Top, The Rolling Stones, and Paul McCartney. One of his most memorable adventures was his trip to Antarctica in October 2023, a bucket-list journey he shared with his wife during a month-long scientific expedition through the Drake Passage. Glenn embraced every travel opportunity, sampling exotic foods and immersing himself in different cultures.

A lifelong fan of the New York Rangers, Glenn played hockey as a child and remained a devoted supporter throughout his life. In retirement, he was a proud season pass holder, always hopeful for the Rangers to win the Stanley Cup. He treasured the time spent at games with his wife, children, and grandchildren by his side.

Glenn is preceded in death by his father, George Liebl, and his mother, Danora Liebl. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred Liebl; his son, Eric Liebl; his stepdaughters, Jennifer Wolfe, Stephanie Broffman, and Mariel Broffman; and five cherished grandchildren, Haley, Owen, Olivia, Abrielle, and Isabella.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 1:00 PM at The Dolphin Bar and Shrimp House, located at 1401 N.E. Indian River Drive, Jensen Beach, Florida 34958.
