Obituary

Glenn Lee Warmkessel of Palm City, Florida passed away on January 16, 2026. He was 91 years old.

He was born to Benjamin Franklin and Christine Woolcock Warmkessel in Danville, PA on February 1, 1934. He attended Shamokin High School, received BA from Mansfield University, and post graduate degree in Education Administration from  Lehigh University. During the Cold War, Glenn proudly enlisted in US Army, returning home with numerous trophies for sharp shooting, before beginning his career in Education. Glenn was a well-loved Math & Science teacher and administrator at Nitschmann, Broughal and East Hills Middle schools in Bethlehem, PA. He coached football and basketball. At Nitschmann, Glenn was responsible for expanding blue and white school colors to include navy as an option, after ordering sports uniforms in navy. As an administrator, both staff and students respected his authority as they knew it was coming from a man who was innately kind.

Glenn retired in 1991 and moved to Palm City, Florida. He was a man who loved his family above all else. He was quiet with bright blue eyes and generous with his smiles. Always an avid fisherman, one of his greatest joys was taking a fishing trip to remote areas of Canada after the last day of school. He loved camping, trips to visit his daughter in Italy, river cruises in Europe, and trips to Costa Rica and Mexico with family and friends.

Glenn always found joy in simple things. He loved telling stories about growing up in Shamokin and his travel adventures. He loved a cold Manhattan or a well made old fashion with properly muddled fruit  at 5 pm, a good cigar with his son-in law, and his specialty was making pumpkin pie with homemade crust for Thanksgiving. The Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies has his life time support and he wore the green and red shirts he was gifted every holiday with pride. Glenn famously loved a good nap and was lovingly referred to as the "Slumber King".

Glenn is survived by his former wife Michaeline, and 3 children Glenn M. Warmkessel (Mary) of Williamsburg, VA, Kelly Warmkessel Prando (Marco) of Genoa, Italy and Center Valley, PA, Tamera Warmkessel Durocher (Keith) of Bethlehem PA. He is also survived by his wife of 34 years Katalin Warmkessel and 2 stepsons Dennis Phillips (Chloe) of Wilton, CT and Brian Phillips (Deb) of Philadelphia, PA. Together, they have 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
