IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Grover C.
Andrews
July 26, 1923 – January 5, 2024
On January 5, 2024, at the age of 100, Grover C. Andrews made his final journey home.
Grover was born on July 26, 1923, in Tucumcari, NM, to Vinnie Webb Andrews and Grover Cleveland Andrews. He graduated with the Elk City (OK) High School Class of 1941, and studied veterinary science at Oklahoma A & M from 1941 until 1943.
In 1943, Grover enlisted in the United States Navy, where he became a Naval aviator serving in the Pacific Arena during World War II. He flew fighter planes during the Korean War and transitioned to helicopters in 1958. In 1968, Grover retired with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Grover next worked in quality control at Boeing Aircraft in Everett, WA; then, for eight years, owned and operated a turkey ranch with one of his brothers in Chickasha, OK; returned to quality control at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in West Palm Beach, FL, at Walbar Engine Components in Indiantown, FL, and at Turbo Combustor Technologies in Stuart, FL; and finally fully retired as a real estate agent for Century 21 in Stuart, FL.
Grover loved God, his country, his family, and traveling. Although his Naval career involved relocating every three years, wherever he ended up, he always found a Christian Church where he could serve. For the past 35 years, Grover has been a member of Southside Christian Church in Fort Pierce, FL, where he has been both a teacher and an elder. He lived a blessed life and was happy to share his faith with everyone. As much as he loved life, his favorite hymn was, "This World Is Not My Home."
It was at a Christian Church youth group in Inglewood, CA, where he met and married his wife, Lois Booth Andrews, in 1946. They had been married 64 years when Lois passed away in 2010.
Grover is survived by his three children, Janice Andrews (Richard) Anderson of Palm City, FL; Grover Clinton (Jeanne) Andrews of Gray, TN; and Jeanette Andrews Phillips of Palm City, FL. One of their fondest memories will always be frequent family travels, including camping across America; a memorable 2018 trip back to Japan, where they had lived from 1961-1964; and, most recently, a 2023 cruise to Alaska to celebrate Grover's 100th birthday.
Grover is also survived by his five grandchildren, Aric Eugene (Mariene) Anderson of Palm City, FL, and São Sebastião, Brazil; Aron Ethan Anderson of Celebration, FL; Lois Carole Andrews (Lee) Daft of Knoxville, TN; Christina Marie Andrews (Barclay) McClure of Daytona Beach, FL, and Joshua Charles Phillips of Anniston, AL.
Great grandchildren are Taylor Lee Daft, Allie Paige Daft, and Riley Kate Daft; Calista Marie Clements, Dakota Aryn Clements, Gabriel David Clements, Connor Daniel McClure and Kyle Nathan McClure; and Alec Nomura Anderson.
A Celebration of Grover's life will take place on Saturday, January 13, at 12:00 noon at Southside Christian Church, 3822 Edwards Road, Fort Pierce, FL. and burial at 2:30 at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, FL.
