Obituary of Harold Durham

Rev. Harold L. Durham, 79, of Rogersville, MO, died May 3, 2012 at his son's residence in Palm City. Rev. Durham was born in 1932 and graduated from Alva high school in 1950. In 1956 he began preaching in various churches of the Joplin District Church of the Nazarene and was pastor of the Highways and Hedges church in Anderson, Missouri. In 1960, Harold enrolled in Bethany Nazarene College (later to become, Southern Nazarene University) and while a student there pastored the Blanchard, Oklahoma Church of the Nazarene and sponsored the Calvary Crusaders. From 1967 to 1998 he pastored churches in Oklahoma, Nebraska and Arkansas. During this time he attended Peru State College and Mid-America Nazarene University. After eighteen years as pastor of the Texarkana, Arkansas Church of the Nazarene, he retired to Rogersville, Missouri where he served as interim pastor for a time, and taught in several area churches. In October of 2011, Rev. Durham was elected to the Hall of Witnesses, by Southern Nazarene University, in honor of his achievements as a teacher of theology and his many years of pastoral service. Known as a student of the Word and a faithful minister and teacher of the Church, Rev. Durham's Legacy of service and commitment is an example of a life dedicated to His Lord, Jesus Christ, and the building of His Kingdom.

Rev. Durham is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elouise Durham of Rogersville; sons, Dr. Gary L. Durham of Stuart, H. Stephen Durham and Randy Durham, both of Palm City; brother, Jim Durham of Neosho, MO; sisters, Virginia Bassham of Springfield, MO, Jodean Pursley of Tulsa, OK; Shirley Martin of Joplin, MO and Evelyn Davison of Neosho, MO; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Harold will be transferred to Fraker Funeral Home in Marshfield, MO. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 12, 2012, at 11am, at the Seymour Nazarene Church. Interment will be in Good Hope Cemetery, in Good Hope MO.
