Helen J. Payne-Shabander of Okeechobee, FL, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 15, 2020. Helen was born May 30 ^th , 1947, in Lake Village, AR.

She was predeceased by her Parents, Ezra and Pearl Payne and siblings; Verma Gattis, Betty Kendig, Troy Payne, and Harold Payne.

Helen was married to Sam Shabander, her loving husband. She had 3 children from a previous marriage, Robert Bittle (Roxanne) of Miami, Kimberly Roberson of Port St, Lucie, Winnie Frommelt (Luke) of Hobe Sound.

Together, Helen and Sam shared his 3 children, Loretta Rose, Lisa Shabander and Sam Shabander Jr. All living in Michigan.

Helen was born into a very loving, close-knit family. She leaves behind her brother, Paul Payne (Judy) of Springdale, AR, and sister Diane Brooks (Mike) of Okeechobee, FL.

She left only 4 of her 21 cousins, all of whom she loved, Wink, Mutt, Early and Jay.

She has 5 grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandaughter.

She was especially loved by her many nieces and nephews. Aunt Helen was their favorite.

She was a faithful Charter Member of the Freedom Baptist Church of Okeechobee and loved her Church Family with all of her heart, especially her Pastor and wife, Mike and Kathi Worf.

We know Helen is celebrating with her Lord and all her family. After all, she often said she is "God's Favorite Child!"

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations in Helen's loving memory be forwarded to Freedom Baptist Church,  PO Box 2411 Okeechobee, FL. 34973
