Howard E. Berning, 93, of Palm City, FL, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at his home.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he had been a resident of Palm City for 8 years coming from Fort Lauderdale, FL, where he lived for 43 years. He came to Florida from Ohio.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army.
Before retiring, he was a postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for over 25 years.
He had been a long time parishioner of St. Clements Catholic Church, the St. Clements Golden Age Club and the Thomas P. Johnston American Legion Post 222, Fort Lauderdale.
Survivors include his sons, Fred Berning and his wife Wendy of Palm City and Jonne Berning and his wife Christine of Wimauma, FL; his grandchildren Jason Berning of Naples, FL, Jennifer Berning of Naples, FL, Matthew Berning of Miami, FL, Patrick Berning of Wimauma, FL, Maureen Berning of Tampa, FL and Great Grandson Cory Berning of Naples, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret.
There was a graveside service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven, North Lauderdale with Military Honor provided by the U.S. Army.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City.
