Ingrid Karin Jimrusti (Brohm) went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 11, 2026. She was born in Berlin, Germany, on February 22, 1940. After escaping East Germany with her family, she immigrated to the United States and began a new chapter of her life.
Ingrid eventually settled in Ithaca, New York, where she attended Ithaca High School and met her future husband, Phil. Following their marriage, Ingrid and Phil lived in five different states and spent time in India before settling in Florida in 1985.
Throughout her life, Ingrid had a deep passion for gardening and nature. She founded and managed Natural Habitats, Inc. (1990-2023), a wetland planting and maintenance company that combined her love of the outdoors with her commitment to preserving the natural environment. She retired in 2023 but continued to enjoy one of her greatest passions traveling.
Ingrid’s kindness, generosity, and compassion touched everyone who knew her. She cared deeply for others and found fulfillment in offering her time, support, and encouragement. Her warmth and selfless spirit made a lasting difference in the lives of her family, friends, and all who crossed her path. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for nature.
Ingrid is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Philip Jimrusti; her daughter, Karin Lee Melton; and her son, Michael Dean Jimrusti (Iris). She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Kristen Melton, Breanne Kelley (Matthew), Danielle Ours (Anthony), Jacob Melton (Jennifer), and Michael Jimrusti (Elizabeth), as well as eight great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Erna Brohm; her father, Ruthard Brohm; and her sister, Ursula Schiff.
Though Ingrid will be deeply missed, her love will continue to live on in the family she cherished, the lives she touched, and the many moments of joy she shared. Her gentle spirit and generous heart will be treasured for generations to come, and she will be lovingly remembered always.
