IRENE ANNE LORD
June 21, 1942 - July 30, 2019
Irene Lord of Stuart, Florida unexpectedly ascended from this life on Tuesday, July 30, 2019. She left a gaping hole in the hearts of all who knew her. Loving mother to Veronica, Kelly, Denise, Dennis & Randall; doting grandmother to Steven, Alix, Tiffany, Emiley, Randall, Amanda, Lindsey & Victoria and a generous, warm-hearted friend to many.
Irene was fiercely independent, selfless to a fault and didn't want a fuss made over her at all. Born in Maine, she moved around a bit before finally settling in Florida. Irene worked hard to raise her family and she was rewarded with what was most precious to her... her grandchildren. She always managed to make their visits feel like a vacation. Endless food, fun and games, cooking and baking too. Her family quickly coined the phrase, "What happens at Gramma's stays at Gramma's". And you never left Gramma's house empty handed, even if you stopped by for only a second.
She was an avid reader, devouring books on practically a daily basis, especially murder mysteries. After retirement from Kmart and Comcast, She enjoyed her volunteer work and making lifelong friends at The Humane Society Thrift Store.
Irene wouldn't want all this fuss made over her. But we would be doing this extraordinary woman a disservice by not memorializing her life in some small way. Wherever Irene's energy has gone, we will sorely miss her metallic nail polish, her bold red hair color, her wardrobe full of coral, orange and yellow, her compulsive year-long shopping for Toys for Tots, her owl collection and last but not least, her perpetually filled coffee cup.
Love You Mom!
Love you Gramma!
We'll miss you every day.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Humane Society in her name.
Arrangements are entrusted to Forest Hills Funeral Home Palm City. Please feel free to share a remembrance, message of condolence or light a virtual candle with the family through this online guestbook.
