O'Connor, Irene Joan Chekan, formerly of Wayne, N.J. Born to Susan and George Chekan in 1929 in East Rutherford, N.J. Beloved wife of John J. O'Connor for 61 years. Graduated from East Rutherford High School then employed as a secretary at several N.J companies including Becton Dickinson and Co., Bendix Corp., and American Cyanamid. A former member of the North Jersey Country Club, Wayne, N.J. Irene and her husband John wintered in West Palm Beach, Florida and in 1987 built their home at The Evergreen Club, Palm City. In 2004, they moved to Port St. Lucie and in 2016 settled at The Brennity at Tradition.

Irene was an avid golfer, and enjoyed gardening and traveling the world with her husband John. She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Port St. Lucie.   Youngest of nine children, survived by her loving husband John, brother Ted Chekan of Tampa, FL, and many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. She adored being an aunt and thought of her nieces and nephews as her own children. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband John, family, and friends.
