Iris D
Bohan
Jan 8, 1937 — Jan 17, 2020
Deerfield Beach
Ms. Iris Dorothy Bohan (née Laub) of Deerfield Beach passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday, January 17, 2020, at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was affectionately known as Gigi to her grandchildren as well as other family members.
Iris was preceded in death by her son Timothy, her sister Katherine Buatta, and her sister Arleen Miller.
Iris was born on January 8, 1937, in Staten Island, New York, to the late Lawrence and Selma Laub. She was the youngest of three sisters. Iris loved the community in which she was born and raised. She was a mother to three children whom she shared with her former husband Cornelius Bohan in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
Later in life, Iris worked as an Account Executive for Bell Atlantic in New Jersey and Bell South in Florida. She moved to Boca Raton, Florida, which allowed her to be close to her late son Timothy of Jensen Beach, Florida. Iris wasted no time after her retirement in 2006 and fulfilled her lifelong dream to travel, which would take her to Europe, Central America, and the Middle East. She would spend her final years in a senior living community in Deerfield Beach, where she loved her friends whom she claimed kept her young.
Iris loved to play the card game Bridge and made many friends playing at churches and temples in South Florida. Her love of family was complemented by her passion for genealogy, which she shared with her children and grandchildren. She was highly respected and sincerely revered for her kindness.
Iris is survived by son Neil Bohan of Depere Wi; daughter-in-law Melissa Nelson-Bohan of Depere WI; daughter, Kristin Clark of Boca Raton, FL; her son-in-law John Clark of Pompano Beach, FL; and her daughter-in-law Aimee Bohan of Jensen Beach, FL.
Iris is also survived by seven grandchildren: Madeline and Claire Bohan of De Pere, WI; Grace Bohan of Jensen Beach, FL; Raymond Sabol of Leicester, MA; Joey Sabol of Port Saint Lucie, FL; Christopher Clark of Orlando, FL; and John Ryan Clark of Honolulu, HI.
Iris will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Her memory will live on through the kindness she paid forward in her lifetime.
Iris will be laid to rest at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City, FL, on Sunday, January 26, 2020. Guests will be welcomed at the funeral home from 11 A.M. until the time of service at Noon. Graveside committal will immediately follow funeral services.
