Obituary of James Blackburn
ames E. Blackburn, 73, of Ft. Pierce, FL passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Ft Pierce. He was born in Campbell, Missouri, grew up in Alerton, Illinois, and was a resident of Ft. Pierce for 14 years coming from Stuart, FL where he was a resident since 1972.
He was a member of Southside Christian Church in Ft. Pierce. He was also a member of the American Legion, White City Post 358.
During the Korean War he served in the United States Army.
Before retiring he was a residential building contractor.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years Dorothy A. Blackburn, a son Franklin T. Blackburn and his wife Jacqueline, his mother Dorothy I. Blackburn, all of Ft. Pierce. Brother Ron and wife Lizzie of Albers, IL, sisters Barbara Clevinger, Ponda Goni, Judy Jones and husband Ray all of Ft. Pierce. His grandchildren Franklin T. Blackburn, Jr. U S Navy and wife Natalie, David Blackburn and fiance Terri Torres, Elijah Cozine, US Army, Kara Cozine, US Navy, Jacob Cozine, US Army, Mary Kayte Wall and her husband Luke of Ft Pierce, Jonathan Schacht and Jeremy Schacht of Vero Beach, great-granddaughter Faith Blackburn.
He is survived in death by his father Frank Blackburn and sister Sharon Dobbs.
SERVICES: Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Southside Christian Church, 3822 Edwards Rd., Ft Pierce, FL 34981. There will be a graveside service with military honors following at Forest Hills Memorial Park on Monroe Rd in Palm City, FL.
