Obituary of James Traitz
James Joseph Traitz, MD, of Palm City, FL, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at his home.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April of 1918, he had been a resident of Palm City for 14 years coming from Miami, Florida. He had been a resident Miami since 1957.
He graduated from Northeast Public High School, Philadelphia, received his undergraduate degree from Villanova University and his doctorate in medicine from the Temple University Medical School. He also attended the University of Pennsylvania. While at Villanova he played on the varsity baseball team.
Following World War II he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corp in the southwest Pacific.
Prior to retiring he was a medical doctor at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Miami from 1957 to 1960. He had a gastroenterology practice in Miami and Bay Harbor, FL from 1960 to 1988.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Linda Etters-Traitz of Palm City; five children, James, Robert, Alan Linda and Marilyn; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
SERVICES: Visitation will be at the Stanfill Funeral Home, 10545 S. Dixie Highway, Miami, from 12:30 to 2:30 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2014. Entombment will follow in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, Doral, FL with military honors provided by the U.S. Army.
