Janice Lily (Friberg) Altwein, 88, of Port St. Lucie, FL went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 16th. Jan was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 1, 1936 to Joseph Magnus Friberg and Lily Mae Friberg. Jan graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois with a degree in Primary Education. She taught in the greater Milwaukee area for 8 years and served as the head of the primary children's church program at Garfield Baptist Church in Wauwatosa for 32 years. Jan loved sewing, singing, reading, traveling, bird watching, as well as attending and leading Bible studies (and in recent months, she delighted in many cheeseburgers and vanilla shakes). She is survived by her husband, Rolf Altwein; her son, Ben Altwein and his wife, Kassie; her daughter Heidi (Altwein) Ewig and her husband Jim; as well as four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. There will be a celebration of life service on Thursday, October 24th at 11am at Grace Presbyterian Church in Stuart, FL.
