Babyak
December 10, 1939 – February 19, 2023
Jean Ann Babyak
Born on December 10, 1939 in NYC to Dorothy (Dottie) Lannon & James Sabel, the third of 5 siblings: Joanie, Jimmy, Jean, Jack & Judy, referred to as 'the 5 J's'.
Jean was raised Irish Catholic and remained very strong in her beliefs throughout her life. She grew up on the east side of Manhattan at 346 East 67th St and graduated in 1958 from Cathedral High School, an all-girls private catholic high school and then earned a teaching degree at St Thomas Aquinas College. She had a long career in early childhood education that included teaching at Rumson/Fair Haven Catholic schools, Perth Amboy, Keansburg, the Kennedy Center & culminating at St Joseph's in Keyport NJ under the diocese of Trenton from where she retired after 45 years of lovingly educating & serving others in 2009.
She raised her family in Keansburg and Middletown NJ; marrying Martin Babyak in 1976. Jean lived a life of faith, generously donating her time to multiple organizations and supporting all those around her as best she could; she loved her family and remained very close with her siblings and children and grandchildren. Jean relocated to Stuart FL in 2012 after visiting her brothers who were living there at the time. FL was a very special place for Jean, who thrived in her community cultivating wonderful relationships full of fun and love and support.
A fan of Mickey Mouse, she celebrated her 80th birthday in Disney World with family and friends, proudly wearing her 8-0 Mouse ears in the park. She loved her home and welcomed all to visit.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Marty; survived by her sister Judy and husband Jimmy; her sister in law Kathy; her son John Catalano and wife Krissia; son Steven Catalano and wife Janet; son Thomas Babyak and wife Jenny; and five beautiful grandchildren whom she absolutely adored: John, Kaitlyn, Justin, Kaylee and Madison.
