Obituary of Jean May

Jean Booth May, born May 23, 1919 in Buffalo, New York passed away on September 11, 2009 in Palm City Florida. Per parents were Raymond A. and Olive (nee Inman) Booth. Olive died shortly after Jean's birth. Raymond married Mildred Varnum who became Jean's loving mother. After completing high school, Jean worked for the Percival Bowan Company as an executive assistant until her marriage, April 1, 1944 to Lloyd Porter May. They met through the Sunday Nighters' Youth Group at Central Park Methodist Church in Buffalo, New York. Lloyd worked for Bell Aircraft as a mechanical engineer. He later attended the University of Louisville Medical School and graduated as an MD in 1954. Their married life took them from Buffalo New York to Louisville Kentucky, Danville Kentucky, Fort Greeley Arkansas, Fort Thomas Kentucky and Delaware Ohio. In 1981 they retired to North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. They were married for 54 years until Lloyd's passing on March 9, 1999. Jean was a homemaker and mother of two, and an accomplished pianist who enjoyed playing for herself and others. Jean moved to Denver Colorado to live with her daughter, Carol in 1999. In 2006, Carol retired and she and Jean moved to Palm City Florida. In addition to Carol, Jean is survived by her son, David and his wife, Elaine May of Brentwood Tennessee. Jean has three grandchildren; JD May (Jennifer) and Stephen May (Jeannie) of Nashville, Tennessee and Sarah May Wilmsmeyer (Josh) of Saint Louis Missouri and great grandson Alexander May. She is also survived by her sister, Marilyn Witmer of Cheektowaga New York and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Sheridan Wyoming.
