IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeannette Dozier
Brown
June 2, 1921 – June 2, 2022
Jeannette Dozier Brown (Cinders) passed away on June 2 nd , the day of her 101 st birthday. Cinders was born in Monticello, Georgia to parents Fred Lane and Frances Cook Dozier. She graduated from Georgia College and moved to the Northeast after marrying her husband of 59 years, Albert (Al) Brown. Cinders was a "war bride" who met Al through mutual friends while he was stationed in South Carolina for U.S. Army Air Corps training.
Al's IBM career took them to the New York City suburbs and they lived in New Canaan, Connecticut for many years. Cinders was an Elder of the Presbyterian Church and an active member of AAUW, PEO, and the Garden Center. She also volunteered at Person-to-Person, a non-profit organization housed at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Darien.
In 1985 Al and Cinders relocated to Piper's Landing in Stuart, Florida, where they spent many wonderful years playing golf, bridge, and hosting / attending social gatherings. In 2013 Cinders relocated to Sand Hill Cove where she continued to play bridge and socialize with former Piper's Landing friends, as well as with many new SHC friends.
Cinders was an avid reader, a wonderful cook and a "green thumb" gardener. She enjoyed playing golf as much for the scenery as the sport itself and usually had A Field Guide to Eastern Birds in the cart with her. She loved traveling and entertaining, but most of all, spending time with her family.
Cinders was pre-deceased by Al in 2003. She is survived by her three children: Pamela Brown Murphy (Stephen), Joyce Brown McCabe (Thomas) and Albert Brown Jr. (Denise), four grandchildren: Katie Murphy LeDoux, Andrew Murphy, Becky Murphy Christensen, and Colleen McCabe Lucas; and six great-grandchildren – Winnie Murphy, Rush Murphy, Ellie Christensen, Owen Christensen, Chase Lucas, and Walker Lucas.
A private graveside service will be held by the family.
