Obituary of Jeno Berkovits

Jeno Berkovits, 94, of Port St. Lucie, FL., died April 17, 2013 at St. Lucie Medical Center, Port St. Lucie, FL.

Born in Hungary, he immigrated to the United States in 1929. He moved with his wife Fidias, from New Jersey to Port Saint Lucie in the 1980's.

Of Jewish faith, he served in the Merchant Marines during WW II and participated in the rescue of Holocaust survivors from Europe and bringing them to Palestine.( http://www.thejewishstar.com/stories/Sailors-role-in-the-birth-of-Israel,758)

He worked as a Matre D' for The Four Seasons Restaurant in New York and several others.

Survivors include his son, David Berkovits of New York City, NY; daughter, Emelicia Mizio of Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm April 21, 2013 at Forest Hills Funeral Home Palm City Chapel, Palm City, FL. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City, FL.
