IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Robert
Annase Jr
August 9, 1964 – September 20, 2023
John Robert Annase Jr., known to his loved ones as John Jr., passed away on September 20, 2023, at the age of 59 in Palm City, Florida. He was born on August 9, 1964, in Hialeah, Florida, to Jean and John Annase Sr.
John's autism presented numerous challenges throughout his life. However, he never let those challenges define him. With unwavering determination, John worked incredibly hard to overcome many obstacles with the devotion of his parents, Jean and John. They worked tirelessly to bring awareness to autism in South Florida and helped create numerous new programs dedicated to helping children and families struggling with autism in the early 70's.
He was known for his honesty, innocence, genuineness, and focused nature. Consistency and routine were essential to him, and he thrived on their predictability.
In his career, John served as a quality assurance specialist at News Bank in Connecticut. He played a crucial role in reviewing microfilm for the Library of Congress. John possessed a unique talent for identifying even the tiniest imperfections in the film images, demonstrating his perfectionist nature and attention to detail. The work program was made possible by STAR in Norwalk, where he learned many valuable life skills.
Outside of work, John found joy in various hobbies and activities. He dedicated himself to spending time with his father and cherished watching him perform with the Dreamers band at Shuckers restaurant on the ocean. John actively participated in the Special Olympics, particularly in track and field events. He also enjoyed watching "The Price is Right," monitoring hurricanes, spending time at the mall, and celebrating holidays with his family. John was genuinely curious about the world and loved meeting new people. He found solace in observing the full moon and used his iPad to capture events that he found interesting. Bowling and bike riding were among his favorite pastimes. He amazed all of us with his ability to remember dates and times in the past with incredible accuracy.
John was fortunate to be surrounded by many professionals dedicated to helping individuals with autism. Their dedication, expertise, and love for John helped shape him into a remarkable adult. In 1977, he moved from Hialeah to Norwalk, Connecticut, to be closer to his father's side of the family. During this time, he was surrounded by the love of his Grandfather, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and flourished being part of a big family. He returned to South Florida in 1997 to retire with his Mom and Dad in Palm City.
John will be deeply missed by his father, John Annase Sr., his brother Christopher Annase, sister-in-law Tracie Annase, their children Ian Annase and his wife Hannah Annase; and Kyle Annase. He leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of all those fortunate to have known him. John was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Annase.
A memorial service will be held in John's honor on Thursday, September 28th, at 10:00 AM at Forest Hills Funeral Home, located in Palm City, Florida.
May John's memory be cherished, and may his loved ones find comfort in the legacy he leaves behind.
