Obituary of John Bystrom

John H. "Jack" Bystrom, 97, of Stuart, FL, passed away July 5, 2014 at the Treasure Coast Hospice Hay-Madeira House, Stuart. Born in Brockton, MA, he had been a resident of Stuart over 20 years, coming from Radnor, PA.

He received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Tufts University, Medford MA.

Prior to retirement he had been the manager of industrial sales for ASTM International for over 20 years.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Stuart. He also had been a member of the St. Lucie Power Squadron, the Anchor-Line Yacht Club, Loyal Order of Moose, the B.P.O. Elks, the Knights of Columbus, the Audubon Society and the Florida Oceanographic Society. He was the founder, in 2001, of the Coffee Club of Stuart, a men's discussion group, that met Thursdays at the Stuart Moose Lodge. Jack was a gracious and charming man who loved travel, dancing, the theatre and music.

He is survived by his son J. Wayne Bystrom of Kennett Square, PA; his nephews, David Bystrom and Bill Bystrom; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Kathleen Bystrom in 1988, a son W. Joseph Bystrom and a brother, Bill Bystrom.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on July 10, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1200 East Tenth Street, Stuart, FL. Inurnment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City.
