IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Manuel
Gonzalez
March 6, 1953 – April 9, 2025
John Manuel Gonzalez
March 6, 1953 – April 9, 2025
John Manuel Gonzalez, 72, of Indiantown, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025. Born on March 6, 1953, in Fort Myers, Florida, John led a life defined by quiet strength, service, and generosity.
A graduate of Martin County High School, John proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Campaign. He was honorably discharged after completing his enlistment, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and patriotism.
Following his military service, John went on to work with the Florida Department of Transportation, where he eventually retired. His work ethic and calm demeanor earned him the respect of all who knew him.
John was known for his stoic nature, his generous heart, and a dry wit that could bring a smile to anyone's face. An avid sport fisherman, John could spend hours on the water and was always ready to reel in a Florida bass with the best of them.
He is survived by his sisters, Eulalia West of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and Antonia Jones of Indiantown, Florida; and by his brothers, Ramon Gonzalez of Indiantown and Isabel Gonzalez of Fort Mill. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who loved and admired him deeply.
John is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen Fields Gonzalez, and their child; his parents, Gerarda and Santos Gonzalez; his brothers Junior, Israel, Paul, Thomas, Martin, and Valentine; and his sister, Guadalupe Mary Gomez.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John's honor to the Florida Department of Wildlife and Natural Resources—a fitting tribute to his love for the outdoors.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
