Obituary of John Regan

John Regan, 81, of St. Lucie West, Florida, died, January 6, 2010 at his home.

Born in County Kerry, Ireland, he had been a resident of Port St. Lucie for 7 years coming from Boynton Beach, Florida. Prior to that, he was a longtime resident of Valley Stream, New York.

During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army where he received the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Star.

Before retiring he was the owner/operator of Paul and John's Service Station in Valley Stream for many years.

He was a member or St. Lucie Catholic Church, Port St. Lucie; Knights of Columbus, St. Lucie Council 7514 and the Knights of Columbus Councils in Valley Stream and Brattleboro, Vermont. He was a Fourth Degree Knight. He was a former member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Valley Stream where he was an usher and a member of the Holy Name Society.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years Catherine Regan of St. Lucie West; daughters, Maureen Regan of New York, New York, Kathleen Regan and her husband Frank Signorelli of Huntington, New York, Peggy Regan-Siegrist and her husband George Siegrist of St. Lucie West, Patricia Barry and her husband Marty of Harrison, New York, Joan de Wolf and her husband Brian of Falmouth, Maine and Nancy Regan and her husband Chris Carobene of Convent Station, New Jersey; a brother, Maurice Regan and his wife Christine of Boca Raton, Florida and a sister, Bridie Styles and her husband Michael of Balleyheigue, Ireland, fifteen grandchildren, Jack, Caroline and Jamie Meere; Caitie, Hannah and Molly Siegrist; Madeline, Patrick and Brian Barry; Andrew, Christopher and Olivia de Wolf; Thomas Iannitto and Nellie and Nicholas Carobene and his beloved dog Bridget.

He was preceded in death by eight siblings.

SERVICES: Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 and 5:00 to 7:00 PM on January 8, 2010 at the Forest Hills Funeral Homes - Palm City Chapel with a Vigil Prayer Service at 2:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on January 9, 2010 at St. Lucie Catholic Church with Rev. Vincent Rubino as celebrant. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City.
