Obituary of John Tunney
John J. Tunney, 79, of Stuart, died September 23, 2008 at the Palm City Nursing and Rehabilitative Care Center, Palm City.
Born in Ambridge, PA, he had been a resident of Stuart for 5 years coming from East Moriches, L.I.N.Y.
During both World War II and the Korean War he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was the recipient of a Purple Heart.
Before retirement he was a purchasing agent in the heavy construction industry and had been involved with the construction of the Shoreham Atomic Power Plant on Long Island, New York.
He attended St. Andrew Catholic Church, Stuart and had been a member of the VFW.
Survivors include his daughter Dianna Tunney of Birmingham, AL; brothers William Tunney of St. Louis, Missouri and Father Thomas P. Tunney of New York, NY.
She was preceded in death by his wives, Marion Tunney and Jeannie Smith Tunney.
Services will be held at a later date in Sewickley Heights, PA
Arrangements are under the direction of the Forest Hills Funeral Homes Palm, City Chapel.
