Obituary of Joseph Cassidy Jr.

John J. Cassidy Jr., 86, of Palm City, FL, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at his home.

Born in Brooklyn, NY he had been a resident of Palm City for over 20 years coming from Malverne, Long Island, NY.

During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army attaining the rank of sergeant.

Prior to retiring he was a senior vice-president for Marsh and McLennan Companies.

He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Palm City, and the Martin Downs Country Club. He was a former member of and on the board of governors for the Cherry Valley Country Club in Garden City, NY.

Survivors include his daughter, Ann Hughes and her husband Frank of Marlton, NJ; his son, Bill Cassidy and his wife Pat of Mount Laurel, NJ; his grandchildren, Kevin Hughes and his wife Jenn, Kelly Hughes, Tim Hughes, Tara Cassidy, Katherine Cassidy and Matthew Cassidy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Cassidy in 2009 and his son, Joseph J. Cassidy III who is survived by his wife Lisa.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on March 18, 2015 at the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City, Florida with a vigil prayer service at 4:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
