With heavy hearts, we announce the loss of our beloved Joseph (Jody) Hanner, who unexpectedly left us on March 13, 2025.

Jody was a cherished husband, fur father, brother, son and friend, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

Born on August 13, 1963, in Arcadia, FL, Jody was the son of Delano and Terri Hanner. He grew up in Palm City, FL where he graduated from Martin County High School in 1981 and married his best friend, Joyce Artrip. Jody and Joyce spent their happily ever after in Martin County and began Engine World in 2004 and continued to build their family of fur babies for over four decades.

Jody loved the outdoors, his Fords, his motorcycles, trailriding, his Jeeps, the mountains and had dreams of retiring to a little cabin in the woods with his dogs and his best friend and the love of his life, Joyce. He loved all dogs and cats and has partnered with the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast for over a decade.

Most walked into Engine World as customers but walked out as friends (many of them becoming lifelong friends). Jody could always be found behind the front counter with the answer to any question that was thrown at him. Jody had the unique ability to locate just about any obscure part or repair any piece of equipment.

Jody is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Joyce, his mother-in-law, Barbara, his niece, Heather, his nephew, Charles, his dogs, Gunner and Mazie and his cats, Bailey and Lucyfur. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Mark.

Though he may no longer be with us, his love, laughter, generosity, loyalty, sarcasm and wit, and sense of humor will remain in our hearts forever.

You will always be loved, missed and in our hearts. Rest in peace, Jody.

A Celebration of Life for Jody will take place on Sunday, March 30, 2025 between 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Covenant Fellowship Baptist Church, located at 2880 SE Aster Lane, Stuart, FL 34994. There will be a dessert bar offered after in honor of Jody's forbidden love of sweets.
