Obituary of Joslyn Binns

Joslyn A. Binns, was born on October 31, 1923, in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica to the union of Charles Binns & Mahalia Binns. He was the first of five children.

In 1943 he was united in marriage to Hazel Agatha and they became parents to Kenneth Binns, Blossom Binns, Faye Binns, Errol Binns, Granville Binns and Patrick Binns. In the union with Ida Sampson he also became the parent to his daughter Elaine Binns. Joslyn was also the father of George Binns.

He migrated to London, England where he was self-employed and lived for 16 years. He then went back to Jamaica and then travelled to Wildwood, New Jersey in 1970. In 1998, he relocated and settled in Port St. Lucie, Florida where he became a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Joslyn enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing Domino's, listening to music by his pool, working for himself and living independently.

He also enjoyed going to Conchy Joe's Seafood Restaurant for dinner and listening to the reggae band.

Grandfather would often put a tip in the band cup and request the music he wanted to hear. One of his favorite songs was, "Don't Worry About a Thing".

When he was physically unable to perform some of his favorite things he would continue to listen to music and request some of what we believe became his favorite food. (Oxtail and Lobster Tail) Grandfather had expensive taste.

In the late hours of Wednesday, June 5, 2013, the Lord chose another servant. He beckoned softly and grandfather answered. He fought a good fight, he kept the faith and

finished his course. God saw the road was getting rough; the hills were hard to climb. He gently closed his eyes and whispered "Peace be Thine".

He leaves to cherish his fond memories: Granville Binns of Ocala, FL , Patrick Binns of Patterson, NJ, Errol Binns of Jamaica; daughters, Elaine Binns of Brooklyn, NY, Fay Binns of Patterson, NJ, Blossom Binns of Jamaica and his domestic partner Betty Silvera of Port St. Lucie, FL.

Grandsons: Richard, David, Gary, Gregory, Matthew, Andrew, Omar, Wayne, Greg, Dwayne, Steve and Chester.

Great Grandsons: Richie and many more.

Granddaughters: Carol "Kerry", Sasheka, Patricia, Michelle, Wendy, Filan and many more.
