Obituary of Joyce Gartland

Joyce St. Onge King Gartland, 88, of Palm City, FL, died September 19, 2010 at The Treasure Coast Hospice, Hay-Madeira House, Stuart, FL.

Born in Iron River, MI, she was a long time resident of Stuart, Hobe Sound, Tequesta and Palm City, FL, coming from Michigan.

Prior to retirement she was a secretary in the food industry. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority at Stetson University, Deland, Florida. She was a volunteer at Jupiter Medical Center. She was a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Tequesta, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and volunteer at the religious store and St. Christopher Catholic Church, Hobe Sound. She was currently attending Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. She was a past member of the Tequesta Country Club and enjoyed golf and playing cards

Survivors include a brother, Donald G. St. Onge, Sr. of Stuart; granddaughter Michelle King of Coconut Grove, FL; niece, Suzanne St. Onge Stahle and her husband Mark of Belleair, FL; nephew Donald G. St. Onge, Jr. of Boynton Beach, FL; nieces Yvette St. Onge Wells and her husband Michael of Port St. Lucie, FL and Suzette St. Onge of Hobe Sound; great-nephews, Christopher and Matthew Stahle of Belleair; great-niece, Courtney St. Onge of Boynton Beach; nephews, Donald G. St. Onge III of Boynton Beach and Ryan Wells of Port St. Lucie; a son Jack King of Coconut Grove, FL and cousins June Bowden Skees and Bishop Joseph Charron.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Gartland.

SERVICES: Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Forest Hills Funeral Homes - Palm City Chapel with a Vigil Prayer Service and Rosary at 5:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will also be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Hobe Sound. Inurnment will be in Fernhill Memorial Gardens, Stuart.
