Obituary of June McGuire

June Howland McGuire 1919-2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother June on January 28th at the age of 90. June was born in Brookline, Mass. on June 11, 1919, the youngest of 8 children of Frank and Sarah Shoals of Marblehead, Mass. June is survived by her son Dennis McGuire and daughters, Kathy Aycock, and Mary McGuire and daughters-in-law Jackie McGuire and Rene McGuire. June was preceded in death by her husband Thomas, her son Michael, and her daughter Debbie. June is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Dennis Jr., Corey, and Trace, Dennis and Jackie's children; Kristen, Brandi, and Benjamin, Kathy's children; Matthew and Crystal, Mary's children; and Sheila, Michael, Thomas, Melissa, Joseph, Dustin, Steven, James, Justin, Michael's children. June's great grandchildren are Jeffrey and Jett, Brandi's children; and Gabriel, Dustin's child. They will all greatly miss their Nana. She was so proud of all their achievements.

June was a descendant of John Howland of the Mayflower. In her early years she had a beauty shop in Saugus, Mass. where she met the love of her life Thomas E. McGuire. Thomas and June spent their final years together at the Cedar Pointe condominiums in Stuart, FL enjoying friends, family and their grandchildren. They celebrated 53 years of a wonderful marriage. Thomas passed away in 2002.

June loved her hobbies of knitting, cooking, and especially writing poetry. During her final years June received loving care at Parkway Rehabilitation. She often mentioned the special attention she received from Ed and Helen, and the entire staff at Parkway. Thank you all for your kindness.

Please come celebrate June's life with us at her memorial service on Feb. 5 at Forest Hills Funeral Home from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at St. Josephs Catholic Church on Feb. 6 at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Lung Association (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), 2701 North Australian Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407 (800-586-4872) would be greatly appreciated.
