Obituary of Katherine Bernstein
Katherine Ann Bernstein R.D.,L.D.N., 61, of Palm City, died June 28, 2012 at Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart. She was born in August 31, 1950, in Rochester NY, and had been a resident of Palm City for 16 years, having moved from Miami. She graduated from Florida International University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospital Management, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetic and Nutrition. She was a Registered Dietician and Licensed Nutritionist in the state of Florida. She worked with Meals on Wheels, Hospice and the Hibiscus House. Throughout her life she pursued her passion for nutrition by educating people of all ages. She was a long term member and past president of Palm Beach Dietetic Association and numerous other professional organizations. Most recently she became a member of the Antique Car Club of America and Martin County.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 42 years, Alan B. Bernstein of Palm City; son, Matthew Lawrence Bernstein of New York City, NY; daughter, Elizabeth Carroll Bernstein of Washington, DC; Sister, Deborah Oerther of Oregon and Robin Stephens of North Carolina, and brother, Bill Donalds of New York. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Fields.
She enjoyed life to the fullest; Kathy embraced all life had to offer through family, friends and world travel. Her presence will be missed in all groups, whether it be in her family life, friendships or charity work.
Funeral Service: 1:00PM, Monday, July 2, 2012 at Forest Hills Funeral Homes, Palm City Chapel.
