Obituary

Kaye Lycke, a co-creator of a 72-year love story with William Lycke, died April 5, 2019 of cardiac distress. Kaye was born and raised in East Hampton, NY, where the incredible love first began when she was 14 and Bill was 15. They were married on June 13, 1953.

Kaye was born on May 16, 1932 in East Hampton Village, NY to Royal and Elizabeth Luther. She lived in East Hampton until her retirement from John Marshall Elementary as teacher. She was known to be a brilliant educator for many decades, bestowing her kindness and grace onto many younger generations. During this time, she also raised 3 boys, engaged with foreign exchange programs and will be remembered for making others feel like family and a smile that could light up any room she graced.

Kaye was very involved in the community and St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Upon retirements, Kaye and Bill first relocated to Beaufort SC and then to Palm City Florida. She became very involved in the Episcopal Church of the Advent were she was also a dedicated choir member.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, William Lycke of Palm City FL; sons, Eric Lycke and his wife, Susan of Ponte Vedra Beach FL, Christopher Lycke and his wife, Cynthia of Palm City FL and David Lycke of Isle of Palms, SC; 5 grandchildren, Matthew, Ian, Zane, Katherine and Keil.

A memorial service will be 1:00pm, Friday, April 12, 2019 at the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Palm City.
