Obituary of Kenneth Ferguson

Kenneth L. Ferguson, 84, of Palm City, FL passed away on May 13, 2015. Born in Marion, Indiana, he had been a resident of Martin County for 48 years coming from Cape Elizabeth, Maine. During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army for four years.



In 1967 he relocated his company, Hoosier Metal Fabricating to Stuart and renamed it ERK Manufacturing, a company that manufactured jet engine parts for Pratt-Whitney. That business is now owned by Paradigm Precision in Stuart. He was very involved as a community leader, active within church organizations, businesses, non-profits, and various positions with the Stuart/Martin County Chamber of Commerce. In 1969 he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Stuart/Martin County Chamber of Commerce, and served on the board of the American Red Cross. He was a founding member of United Way of Martin County and also served as its President in 1973. He served on the Martin Memorial Hospital Board from 1986-94 acting as Chairman in 1990, 1991 and 1992 and as past chairman in 1993-94. He was on the committee for the first Stuart Sailfish Regatta in 1968. After he retired he served at the Stuart/Martin County Chamber as the Small Business Service Counselor from 1998 to 2011 and in 2013 received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Chamber Installation Gala. He was a Eucharistic Minister for St. Joseph's Catholic Church and worked with the St Vincent de Paul Society, Palm Beach Diocese.



Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Priscilla Ferguson of Palm City; his daughters, Cathy McNeal and her husband Mike, Lori Jones and her husband Steve and Lisa Ferguson and her husband John Holt all of Stuart and Jodie Bozarth and her husband Brad of Marion; his son, Steve Ferguson of Palm City; his grandchildren; Ryan, Erin, Ali, Karissa, Daniel, Matthew, Kendall, Courtney, Keeley and Blake and great grandchildren; Levi, Merrick and Lotus. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Ferguson, grandson Stephen Jones and brothers Donald Sharp and John Ferguson.



Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City with a Vigil Prayer Service at 6:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
