Obituary of Laurie Parenti
Laurie Sullivan Parenti was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, December 1, 1924, one of seven children of James and Leila Sullivan. After graduating from Grosse Pointe High School, she received an Associate's Degree from Northwood Institute and attended Oakland University. Her vocation was in Physical Therapy and she was associated with the Sister Kenny Foundation at Pontiac General Hospital in Michigan. In 1943 she met her husband of 65 years while volunteering for the USO during WWII. Her marriage to Bob produced four children; Robert Jr., Christine- both living in Florida, James, who died in 1973, and David, residing in Michigan. While in Michigan, Laurie became active in civic and community affairs, holding various offices including President of Lawyer's Wives of Michigan, member of Michigan State Bar Auxiliary and Women's Club of Oxford.
After retiring to Florida to enjoy the "good life" and slow down, the pace only seemed to quicken for both her and Bob. While in Stuart, Laurie has been a volunteer for the Cancer Society, Secretary for Celebrities Fore Kids Golf tournament, Past President of the Woman's Club of Stuart and Commodore of Anchor Line Yacht Club.
Laurie's light continues to spread to everyone she has touched and the world is a better place because she has been in it.
In lieu of flowers, Laurie wished donations go to the Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997, or at 772/403-4530 or on line at www.tchospices.org in her memory.
