Obituary of Lawrence Deutscher

Larry Deutscher, 72, of Port St. Lucie, FL died Sunday January 13, 2013 at St. Lucie Medical Center, Port St. Lucie, FL.

Born of the Jewish faith on September 15, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY.

Larry grew up and resided in Queens, NY until he moved to Port St. Lucie in 1991 with his wife Kay.

Larry graduated from Jamaica High School in 1958. He attended the RCA Technical Institute where he studied electrical wiring and electronics. He then entered the United States Navy in 1961 where he served for two years. In 1962, following his father Maurice, Larry became a second generation member of Local Union No. 3 IBEW as an electrician in New York City and worked for over 22 years. Again, following his father, Maurice, Larry became an Electrical Inspector for the City of New York where he worked as an inspector for 8 years. He also worked as an baseball umpire and a basketball and football referee for many years. He loved baseball and wrestling. He loved wrestling so much he became a wrestler known as 'Luscious Larry' and had numerous bouts. After relocating to Port St. Lucie, Larry became a real estate agent.

He leaves behind his wife of 25 years Lorene (Kay) Deutscher of Port St. Lucie, FL., daughter Shari Hanley of Flushing NY, sons Marc Deutscher on Flushing, NY., Jomo Smith of San Diego, CA, brother Bernie Deutscher of Las Vegas, NV., sister Shoshana Nurik of Benicia, CA., and 2 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday January 18, 2013 at Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am the funeral home.

Interment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City, FL following the funeral.
