Lawrence (Larry) Edward Pensa, 97, of Stuart passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Treasure Coast Hospice.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on June 3, 1926, he was the son of the late Walter and Virginia (Bradley) Pensa. His sister Beatrice MacAskill preceded him in death in July 2014.
Larry attended Cathedral College, graduated in 1944 and volunteered and served in the U.S. Army from October 1944 and honorably discharged in August 1946. He was awarded Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, and European Theater battle stars and German Occupation ribbon.
He married his beloved wife Dorothy Elizabeth (Furey) on June 15, 1947. She preceded him in death in July 2004. They moved their growing family from Brooklyn NY to Levittown, L.I. in 1956, living there for 39 years.
He served 20 years with the Port Authority Police and Rescue Services of NY & NJ. His second career was in commercial sales for Contract Distributors, New York, NY for 19 years and then retired to Stuart, Fl with his wife Dorothy in 1992.
Larry loved to play golf and was a member of the Martin County Golf and Country Club men's league. He regularly enjoyed swimming at Hobe Sound Beach and his pool time with family and friends at his condo clubhouse, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Originally, he was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stuart and in later years a parishioner at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Hobe Sound.
Surviving are his four children; daughter Patricia (and husband Lou), son Michael (and wife Marianne), daughter Virginia and daughter Christina (and husband Charles), Nine Grandchildren; Jonathan, Vanessa, Elizabeth, Ryan, Kelly, Connor, Zachary, Cassandra, and April and seven Great-Grandchildren; Aiden, Lilianna, Dyan, Isabella, Liam, Brinley and Grace.
Family and Friends may call from 2-6pm on Saturday, 12/16 at Forest Hills Funeral Home in Palm City. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Sunday at 12:30pm at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Hobe Sound. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Palm City.
