Obituary of Lenora Hartlep

Lenora Nell Hartlep, passed from this earth into her eternal home on April 6, 2008.



Born April 3, 1928 in Terre Haute, Indiana. The youngest child of Ernest and Frae (Hixon) Collins.

The early childhood years with parents, two brothers and two sisters, were not unlike many homes in Depression- time America. A home where material holdings were scarce, but where togetherness, love of God, and love of family gave her the values that guided her life forever.

In her mid-teens, September 1943, Nell's path crossed with that of a young fellow named Bob Hartlep. The relationship blossomed and deepened and on March 10, 1945 in Chicago, II., a contract of marriage was signed by the two young people. That contract has remained valid and strong for 63 years.

In 1947, Nell's life was blessed by the birth of her daughter, Janis Kay and in 1949 a new blessing, the birth of her son David Keith. The family was complete. In 1962 the family moved from Indiana to Florida and have been residents of the Treasure Coast area since that time.

From 1968 until 1999, Nell was a 30 year resident of Indiantown. Seven years a worker in the food service department at Warfield School, a member of Indiantown Baptist Church, and a community volunteer.

Then a new century; a retirement home in the Savanna Club Community. New and good friends and neighbors. Finally in the last months, a disease that her physical body could not defeat.

Preceded in death by parents, siblings and her own two children, she is survived by her husband, daughter -in-law, Catherine Hartlep of Statesboro, Ga., cousins, nephews and nieces, friends and neighbors.

Our hearts are heavy as we cry the tears of parting, but assurance is ours that the rose still blooms beyond the wall. The aura remains. The memories shall not fade. Unfettered and unassisted, she has climbed those final steps. She has walked into the sunrise. She is with her own two children now. She is with all God's children who have walked that way before. She has found her home in Glory.

Services: Calling hour will be 1 PM to 2 PM, Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Forest Hills Funeral Home with Chapel Services at 2 PM with Rev Stuart Silvester officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City.
